I live in CO and would love to talk with other patients of Dr. Rector or other Drs for BHR in colorado. I need both done and am looking at Dr. Rector in CO or Dr. Gross in SC. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Erik
Eric, Dr. Rector performed a BHR on my right hip 10-15-07. Today, 01-28-08, I just had my three month follow-up. The words fantastic, wonderful and miracle are just a few that come to mind. I was a cyclist before the surgery and was able to return to my bike three weeks post-op. Since then I’ve ridden over 800 miles. I’m looking forward to a big summer doing all my favorite events. I am now pain free for the first time in years. More important I can walk again. In November I spent the afternoon walking at the zoo with my grandson. Before surgery that would have left me crippled with pain. I’m only 48 and Dr. Rector gave me a new lease on life. So the big questions would I do it again, would I recommend Dr. Rector? Absolutely to both. Eric and any others contemplating this procedure feel free to write. Go for it you won’t regret it.
Hi Erik ,
I'm meeting with Dr. Rector in July- am interested in any feedback you might have regarding your experiences.
Thanks
Erik I just had my first consult with Dr Rector yesterday. Feel free to write.
Would also like a follow-up from Robert if he is available...

Outstanding Robert. Congratulations on your success story. I am also very active but not on the same level as you. I love playing basketball and slow pitch softball and some weight training. It looks like you are a few years younger than me(I am 55) but reading about success stories like yours is just what I need to hear as I will soon be going through the same type of procedure. Thanks for taking the time to write about your experiences. Good luck and keep up the good work!
Robert congratulations on your recovery. I would be very interested to know if you were able to return to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I am a 49 y/o blackbelt staring at a right hip resurfacing. I am worried about being able to returning to sparring. Were you able to do this?
Thanks!
Hey Sean,
How are you?
I was wondering if you found out any info about jiu jitsu after the re-surfacing?
Thanks and Best Wishes,
Trevor
I want to add my confidence in Dr Rector, his staff, and Boulder Community Hospital. I had my left hip done on 2-20-09 and my right hip on 5-27-09. I live in Nebraska so I offer an experience for someone looking for an experienced surgeon not in their local area. Like most everyone, I was very active until arthritis stopped me in my tracks by 2008. I was miserable and couldn't enjoy a short walk with my dog (where I used to take her running every morning). I am also very active as a soccer coach which was becoming more and more difficult to do. I phoned Dr Rector and he answered all my questions and also put me in contact with a former patient and soccer coach who had both hips done earlier. I contacted him and he sang Dr Rector's praises. My story so far is the same...minimal pain post surgery, rapid pain free walking, pain free coaching within 8 weeks including striking balls, passing and receiving, dribbling demos, etc,. It is too soon to bridge the running question with Dr Rector but plan to at first opportunity (4-6 months out??).
