Doug Zimmerman’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Kusuma 2013
Doug Zimmerman Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Kusuma 2013
June 09, 2013
I am in my mid 40’s and 2 post post op from my Birmingham Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Kusuma.
My hip was previously in really bad shape for the past 5 years or so. I had a bad limp and had to do stretches/excercises 20 minutes a day just to keep ambulatory. I had little range of motion and often felt a dull ache. I attribute it to playing a ton of basketball until my hip troubles became an issue when I was about 35 or so.
My primary care physician recommended Dr. Kusuma and I couldn’t be happier with the results of the surgery. Dr. Kusuma and his support staff were excellent as was my experience recovering in Grant Hospital in Columbus.
I’m now doing pretty much everything I want to do and it’s only been 2 months.
The worst part of recovering from the surgery was insomnia the first week at home. The solution for me was to stop taking the oxycodone and begin taking Tylenol PM before bed. The recovery really wasn’t bad at all. No physical therapy. I could drive as soon as I was done with pain pills.
I would recommend people avoid meat and dairy a few weeks before and after surgery. I didn’t have a problem with constipation but I know others who have.
Fox News in the waiting room at Dr. Kusuma’s office was kinda annoying but that’s an ant hill.
