Doctor in CA
« on: October 13, 2011, 04:25:31 PM »
I live in the foothills out of the Central Valley in Ca. I have found two Docs doing the BHR from the Smith&Nephew website located in San Ramon out of the SF Bay Area and was wondering if anyone has heard of them or had any experience with them. Dr. John Knight with Muir Orthopaedic Specialists and Aaron Salyapongse with Webster Orthopedics. I am an expert skier/recreational racer that my chiropractor has been keeping going for six years and this past spring the hip started going down fast after skiing just an hour or so. Now my road riding is too much of a pain after 10/15 miles and some days walking is just a pain. I quess it's time to fix the hip. Any help would be appreciated. John

John,

Where in the Central Valley do you live?  I'm getting ready to go to Boulder and get my hip done.  You should give me a call?  Shoot me an email first and I'll give you my number.  I race bikes at a pretty high level and like you, my hip has just gone.  Looking forward to getting out of pain.

I looked at surgeons around the Valley here, but no one appealed to me as having the skill level I was hoping for.  I had a buddy, who's a pretty strong cyclist, get his done at SPOC in Fresno, but he went in thinking he was going to get a BHR and came out with a total hip replacement.  Surgeon didn't feel comfortable doing it once he got in.  I don't want that to happen to me.
