Ruby, you maybe a long way from Scotland but you`re close to me! As Danny said make sure you tell MrT exactly how bad the pain is!! He will not let you continue to suffer, a year ago I was in the same boat.
Stick to just pain meds (yes I know they don`t help much when it gets this bad) but they ask you to stop taking anti-inflammatories 2-3 weeks before they will operate. If you have already stopped taking them, he will be able to operate even sooner :) x

I need to make a list of questions for him. My mind always goes blank when I'm sitting in there.

Anyone got any questions you think I should be asking?

Mine would not be questions, I would make sure that Dr. T knows the massive pain I'm in..... break down in tears, make sure he knows that you really need the surgery.

After he gives you a surgery date then ask him questions like, how long is recovery, what will be your restrictions etc, at least with Treacy you do not have to worry about revision rates etc, you already know you have a great doctor.

I would ask,
What difficulties to the operation do you envisage?
What device will you use?(ie BHR, BHR with dysplasia cup thr)
What are the chances that you couldn't do a BHR? And would have to switch to thr?
Most importantly how long is his waiting list!!

I'm praying for you hun!

I'm home! And guess who's joining the club?!  ;D

Mr T said he ideally wanted me to wait it out another year/18 months but once he saw me come in on 2 crutches and knowing that I've had every possible bit of conservative treatment we're going for a metal on metal BHR in Sept/Oct time.

He did say that I had to trust him in that once he got in there there would be a slim chance of him having to perform a THR, but he's aiming for the BHR  :)

That is just awesome! Excellent result, given the pain you're in. September will be here before you know it, and you'll have plenty of time in good weather to recuperate.

Really glad for you. Maybe if you want it, let them know that you can go earlier if there's a cancellation.

Haha!!!

I'm so unbelievably relieved this will all be over soon. In all my shock, because I truly believe Mr T was wavering about doing it all... he said that he was trying so hard not to give me a replacement of any sort just yet, I forgot to ask how long I'd be off work for! Doh!!

He also said that my surgery would take a little longer than normal due to the way my pelvis and femoral head are. Trust me to be awkward  ;D
