Title: Curves gym
Post by: bradley on March 16, 2009, 12:49:02 AM
I am 6 weeks post op in my right hip and I am wondering when it will be safe for me to go back to exercising at my local Curves gym. I am currently cycling and using the cross trainer for 40 mins a day. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Debbie,

It all depends what restrictions your doctor has you on.   I would call or email them and let them know--- most docs will allow biking on a stationary bike but I would still check.

Hi Deb:

I agree with Chuck...double check with your surgeon and let him know "what kind" of exercises you will be doing at Curves.

He may want you to be a little more careful and progress to those exercises a little slower.

NOTE: this is just an average....some surgeons are a little different....
6 weeks is what they call the first zone of most restrictions being lifted, the second "zone" would be about approx. 6 months (when the bone is locked into the device), the third "zone" would be around 1 year, where most surgeons tell you to go crazy if you want because the soft tissues (tendons, ligaments, muscles) are usually back into place.
