I would like to find people local that have experienced BHR. Is there anyone that may be local that would like to talk to me through e-mail or phone ? I am scheduled for surgery on May 18th and I have until 2 days before to decide on THR or BHR. I would like to talk to someone that's been through the process and find out what I should expect. Brian,
You can email or message me on here for my phone number, I will tell you now, unless told by an experienced HR surgeon that you should not do so I would go for the HR over a THR any day.
I do not live in or near Boston but we could still chat.

Brian: I live in southern NH and had a right hip resurfacing at Mass General on March 10. I'd be glad to speak with you. Contact me at 603-898-4816.

I live in Boston and would be happy to share information. Drs in Boston are mostly THR and try to discourage you (or mislead you) from resurfacing. I went to Dr Mont in Baltimore.

Hi Brian - had my BHR at Newton-Wellesley on New Years eve. pretty positive experience. PM me if you want. The Doc I used (Hanmer) knows his procedure, and is very careful about cup angle and all that.

I am from Western Mass., but went to Boston for my surgery, which was done on April 21, 2009 by Dr. John Ready at Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston. I must say that everything was excellent with both the procedure, and the care afterwards. I highly recommend both Dr. John Ready as well as Brigham and Women's.
Anyway, I am now 2 weeks into recovery and getting better every day. I have to admit that it is a lot more difficult than I expected, but, everything I am experiencing seems to match what most people say about recovery.
Hi Lengas
Thanks for telling us about your experience with Dr. Ready. It is always good to learn about surgeons we don't know about.
You will soon be feeling much better. It just takes times. Be patient and keep in touch.
Good Luck.
Pat
7.5 weeks post surgery with Dr. Ready.
I am back to work and doing great.
Couldnt ask for anything more at this point.
9 days post op and doing well. I had Dr. Daniel Ward @ New England Baptist do the surgery and all's well.
