Hello all!
I just wanted to get back into the mix, here on the board. I've read it often, and followed a number of you as you've progressed through your hip questions and surgeries. So, thank you Pat, for providing a constant source of encouragement and information!
It's been a year since I first discovered the surfacehippy site, and it looks like I'm finally moving forward towards healthier hips! (I have some previous posts with questions/concerns etc. ... oh & I'm 49/F) I recently spoke with Dr. Gross' assistant at length, and couldn't have been more impressed with the timeliness of the response I received from Dr. Gross' office. I have completed my paperwork and I finally received my CD today with the X-rays/Dexa requested by Dr. Gross' assistant. They go into the overnight tomorrow. I have a tentative surgery date of July 29, 2009! Wahoo!
I am looking forward to the assesment by Dr. Gross, as well his opinion as to the condition and possible treatment of my aching hip(s) (One feels worse than the other). I've had trouble with my hips my whole life, but remained very physically/athletically active. So, I am hoping that a diagnosis will finally have me moving in a positive direction of less pain - more action!
I'm rambling - but sometimes, after reading all of the posts that I have seen - seems like I 'know' the participants!
I welcome any and all comments, inquiries and suggestions from the board members :)
Thanks again for providing a forum where we can exchange ideas, concerns and support.

Hi Cindy,
Congratulations on your decision. You're in good hands. I'm a Gross Hippy and I could not be happier. I just got in a little while ago from an evening hike with my dogs and the whole time I was thinking . . . wow, I haven't hiked this trail in 2 years, now it's no problem at all! I'm about 8 1/2 post-op and I'm incredibly happy with my results. I got some really great snowboarding days in during March and April and I'll be cycling a century this weekend. But, most important of all, I can walk through the grocery store, go shopping and do normal everyday things without a second thought. It was really the normal everyday things and my endless workarounds that used to really get me down.
Best of Luck! As you know, you'll find plenty of support on this forum!
