Today is the 4th anniversary of receiving my LBHR from Dr. De Smet of Belgium on March 15, 2006.
I was very fortunate to have a quick and easy recovery of my resurfacing when I was 61. My hip is still doing great - no problems or pain. It took several falls last year. One from my bike and one from the ice. Dr. De Smet said the resurfacing won't break, but watch out for the rest of my body!
I would make the same decision today to fly to Belgium and have Dr. De Smet implant a BHR into my left hip if I needed it. Would still return to him to get the other hip done if it needed a replacement or have him do a revision if I ever need that. Hopefully, I won't have to worry about that.
Anyone wondering if a resurfacing is a good solution for an older woman - it is if you are a candidate. Don't let the less experienced surgeons tell you any different. Work with the top, most experinced surgeons if you want a resurfacing.
Good Luck to all.

Happy 4th anniversary, Pat.
A suggestion for you... perhaps you could have a topic entitled "Which month and year did you have your first resurfacing" ? You would need a drop down menu but it would give a more accurate response than the "how old is your resurfacing" poll which obviously dates after you post your response.
Congratulation on your 4th year Pat..
Best wishes
Terry
