Post by: rmartin on October 21, 2010, 10:18:27 AM
Pat i contacted you prior to my surgery (6/09/10) and thanked you for web site it was a big help. I just wanted to let everyone know how great the surgery and recovery went. Absolutely no pain after procedure i am sure because of meds. But i was comfortable the 2 1/2 days in hospital. Hospital staff was great (Highland Hospital Rochester N.Y Dr Christopher Drinkwater)My new favorite Hospital.
The only discomfort was  after home my rt quad muscle tightened up the frozen peas a must for about 3 days but no pain discomfort since. The only time I took pain med  was @ night to help sleep.
I put off the surgery for 3 years because of work city fire fighter I was told highly unlikely I would be able to return to the fire house due to NFPA standards. Waited for my 30 yr mark in case I had to retire, was not interested in office job.
Just went to see fire Dept doctor after he learned more about BHR he gave me ok to return to full Duty Nov2 2010 GREAT NEWS  not ready for retirement.
I could go on about how great I feel and have felt back to doing everything snowboard and skiing this winter no restrictions from my Ortho.
Thanks so much Bob

Is Dr Drinkwater fantastic or what? And I can't say enough about Highland and the staff. I had my RBHR 6/23, and getting LBHR this coming Wednesday. It's going to be great. Glad to here you're doing well. My dad was a pro firefighter, retired at 55, had two THRs soon after. No resurface back then. We're fortunate to have this option today!!
