I will be attending a special Hip Resurfacing meeting/conference sponsored by Smith & Nephew in Scottsdale AZ on April 29. It will be a chance to listen to Mr. McMinn and Mr. Traecy lead a discussion about hip resurfacing. I don't know which other surgeons will be attending, but will try to learn as much as possible.
Vicky Marlow will also be attending. Shepersonally knows Mr. McMinn and has been asked by him to gather questions from hip resurfacing patients. She will post a notice shortly and you can email your questions to her.
I will also be learning and asking questions, too. I will make sure we share everything we can with hip resurfacing patients.

My two cents
How does a surgeon get credentialed to do HR surgery? Is there a certain number of "supervised" procedures that a surgeon must complete successfully? What investments are being made to ensure that all surgeons meet a minimum standard of "effectiveness" in regards to this process. Besides Pat's listing (which is based on total number of HRs performed), I don't see anything else to help a patient make informed choices.
In addition, given patients reluctance to use "less experienced" HR surgeons, are we losing opportunities to glean new ideas and practices for this evolving field.
Vicky,
Can you post info regarding the NY conference in June?
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Vicki,
Thanks for the link to last year's conference. It was remarkably thorough and I look forward to reading the review of this year's proceedings.

Hi
I will have a complete review of the BHR 20 year anniversary meeting in AZ this weekend shortly. I have 4 new doctor videos to post later this week.
I will be sure to post all the info shortly. That trip was fantastic and the Camelback resort in AZ was beautiful. It was great spending time to talk with all the BHR surgeons including McMinn and Treacy from the UK.

I'd like to meet Mr McMinn one day or hear him speak live. He's like a super hero for hippies :)
From the snippets of video I have seen online he also seems to have a wicked sense of humour!
Pat,
Did anybody talk about tendon issues, tears, therepy, or prp to correct the problems?
I don't remember any presentations about tendon issues. The presentations were about hip resurfacing devices, placement, problems and retention rates of the BHR.
