Man this board is becoming my best friend :). At my appointment last week Dr. Gross gave me a prescription for Irospan 24/6 to increase hemoglobin levels prior to surgery. I went to get that prescription filled today and the CVS pharmacy I use does not stock it. They can order it in and it just takes a day. However, I found out in my Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance plan this is a top tier drug with a $50 copayment (I have three refills with the prescription). The pharmacist said there is no generic available. Did anyone else run into this situation? Was Dr. Gross able to prescribe an alternative? It's not that big of deal but if there was a cheaper alternative I would certainly take it (this drug would cost me total of $200). I figure the people on this board are as good as calling the office!
