Wow, Six years ago today was the start of all of this for me.
I was resurfaced by the wonderful Dr. Vijay Bose in India, I flew alone to a third world county I had never been to, 6 years ago today and who would have thought that something so scary would turn into my lifetime passion, becoming a Patient Advocate? Next week, I celebrate one year for my right hip. But I could not be happier with my two well placed BHR Metal on Metal devices. No problems at all. As Dr. Bose says, think of this as a lifetime investment and that is exactly what I am doing. I believe mine will last me the rest of my life.
Next week I start full on with my P90X program and Zumba no longer modified without the jumps since my right hip will be a year out and I so look forward to getting back into shape. Most of it has been because I have been so busy that I have let myself go, but starting next week, the phones will be off and laptop off for at least an hour for me to workout each day. Hopefully my poor back will allow me to do some of the movements because that is what is stopping me the most now. I wish there was something they had for backs like they do for hips! Anyway, I just looked at the calendar and realized that today I celebrate 6 years for my left hip!

Yet another inspiration - congrats Vicky!
Awesome vicky! Congrats
Congratulations! Nobody deserves it more than you Vicky. You helped me get to the other side yesterday, and many others past and future.

Yeah Vicky! You are the best advocate!! Thanks for all your input on the site. Congrats on the 6 years! Lu
Congratulations on your 6 year anniversary! Great that you now have 2 working BHRs and are active again. I am following on your footsteps to my six years in March. Thanks to you and others at Yahoo Surfacehippy, I also have a great BHR.
Have fun and enjoy the Zumba!

Congratulations Vicky
Congratulations Vicky! So happy that you have had a wonderful recovery and have your life back (many of us still can't believe that's possible!!) Zumba sounds like such a dream :)
You are a tremendous inspiration and such a gift to ALL OF US!!
BTW, I met with Dr. Ferro last Monday. I watched your interview with him. I absolutely LOVE that man :)) Unfortunately, I'm not a candidate for HR with him, and I need both sides done like you. Can't imagine what a trooper you were to go overseas for your surgeries by yourself OMG!!! Were you able to walk on your own prior to your surgeries?
Thank you for all your hard work on behalf of all of us out here struggling with this terrible condition.

Please get several more opinions before you decide you must get a THR. You can email several of the top surgeons yourself, but Vicky knows them personally and can get you a faster response.
I would not take NO for an answer until you hear it from the top doctors in hip resurfacing. Then you need to be careful who you choose for a THR if you can't have a resurfacing. Surgeon experience makes a big difference in THRs too.
Use the resources and use Vicky - make sure you know whether you are a hip resurfacing candidate or not.
Good Luck.

Vicky-
Congratulations on the milestone. I wish you the best as you start exercising again.
I also want to thank you for all you do for those seeking information, advice, and assistance for hip issues. I have become very angry at the misinformation and subterfuge by the insurance and medical community surrounding MoM HR.
Keep fighting the good fight.

Good Job Vicky. I'm looking forward to meeting you and McMinn in San Fran in Feb. Should be fun.
Good job with the patient advocacy. That's very inspiring.
