Hello all- I have a question about footwear post survey. Right now I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. I can comfortably wear athletic shoes or some great Merrell shoes that I have. Both of these, of course, do not have heels. At what point post op could you begin to wear heels (even low heels) and/or boots? Clothing choices are limited with the footwear mentioned above...although I am planning on rocking an outfit for Christmas with non dress shoes. I am walking on my own and I did try on a pair of low heels yesterday (just testing around the house) and my hip quickly said NO WAY! :)
I find that I'm much better off wearing slip on boat type shoes or regular tennis shoes. I've tried low heels a couple of times when dressing to go to an event but just couldn't muster it for long. My boots with low heels are better because they have some ankle support but even then my hip prefers shoes without any height to the heel.
Our office is in our home so I don't have to worry about dressing for work. One plus right now. As soon as I start consulting again, I'll have to address the shoe issue.
Are you wanting to wear heels or do you need to wear heels for your work?
Luanna
Right now I want to wear heels to dress for the holidays but don't have to under the circumstances. I'll be one month post op when I go back to work and that is when things get tricky. I can certainly dress professionally and wear comfortable shoes when i go back to work, I'm sure people would understand. I am hoping to be able to deal with low heels by that point but I'll have to wait and see.
