Yesterday I had the right hip re surfaced. The doctor just left my room, it is a BHR and Dr. Alden said it was a text book resurfacing case. Little groggy but sitting up waiting for the PT to come get me.
Welcome to the club, Neil !!! We'll get you the club packet, the decoder ring and the little chain with two mini femoral components hanging from it. Good to bring to clubs ;D . Send all club fees to hernanu.
Excellent that everything went well, keep us posted. We like people who post groggy.
Congrats! Let us know how you progress!
Welcome and congrats, now you're back in balance :), great to hear it went well.
I'm right behind you.
Thx
I can't speak for you but I had a roller coaster ride... welcome to the club...hang in there...this is a GREAT outlet and support system for sure!
Neil,
Now you're one of the collective! Resistance is futile to a wonderful future; it's the here and now that will be a bit crappy!
Congratulations!

The inpatient PT had me do 1750 feet plus going down one floor and doing handicap ramps. After lunch I will have another pt session and then I go home!
Congratulations on the successful surgery, Neil!!
You've definitely come to the right place, as Hernan is the unofficial President and Welcome Wagon Host of the He-Man and She-Woman Bilats Club.
Time to add another line to your signature...
Congratulations, sounds like you are feeling well. When was your left hip done?
Neil - Good job. Welcome to the club. BTW - don't listen to Hern, I'm the club secretary, all fees come to me first for processing. ;D
Good luck with PT.
Great progress Neil, I joined the bilateral club yesterday, and feeling very elated about the road ahead.

Left hip was done 2/28/11, the surgeon said it was in worse shape than the x-ray's indicated. Because the right hip has always been more painful I wanted to get it done before it was so bad that it needed to be a THR.
Went out for a walk today, was able to do 1/2 mile full weight bearing, the walker was brought with for stability and to help with the gait. My goal is to be able to walk a mile the morning of my 2 week follow up visit.
Walking a half mile is wonderful progress! Walking and sitting are your challenges now, and you are doing great.

Yesterday was day six and I ditched the walker for the cane! And this morning the PT kicked my butt!!!
Right where you want to be, Neil. No one graduates Hippy academy without getting your behind handed to you in one way or another.
The best part is I am paying her to do it 3 times a week! But it seems to be helping, I walked 5/8 mile this afternoon.
Congrats on your walk, Neil! My 1/2 mile walk outside with Boo and Hubs today smarts just a touch, but it is better everyday! I hope the weather holds for you to walk outdoors; nothing beats that IMO.
Good luck and Good Healing

I am up to 1.5 miles but sitting is still a problem.
Me too. I sit on a pillow always - driving in the car, right now stretched out on the couch contemplating getting up off my but to make it to my first 8:30am appointment of Pool PT in a jam packed day, and at the therapist's with an ottoman to boot for my legs.
However, now I can sleep on my L Side. Try to savor the little victories as they come. A wise poster compared it to finding cool stuff in a scavenger hunt while you're on the way to your final prize.
Good Healing,
