Title: EFX machine 4 months post op.
Post by: dcdc68 on March 01, 2012, 10:35:46 AM
Hi All,

I'm almost 4 months post op and I've been using the EFX machine approx. 4 times a week for about 3 weeks now.  From what I've read the risk for neck fracture is highest at around 3 months post op.  Is the EFX safe to use at this stage?  I go full weight(don't lean on the side rails) and go pretty hard.  I shoot for about 400 calories in 30 minutes.  I need some reassurance that this is okay.

Regards,
dcdc68

Everyone's different, so it's hard to tell you. I did the elliptical at about that time, but was not pumping hard. Have you checked with Dr. Brooks?

How do you feel afterwards?

You're still healing quite a bit at this time, but I'd check with Dr. Brooks. Part of the recovery, I think is challenging your body, but there is a line between challenge and overdoing it.

I have an Octain XRide and have been doing 1/2 hour riides. No pain at all like before the surgery. My PT included a seated bike and the elliptical. They keep me at a non aggressive pace. I'm not pushing as hard as you now but hope to be at 4 months.
