Hi, everyone I thought I'd give you a update since you all have been wonderful getting me through this. Today is 4 mos. Post op.I got the ok from my Dr. To start riding may 1, started April 30 th

I sent my horse to Amish bootcamp for 8 days. My first rude was. little scary. I was by myself because I can never find anyone to ride with. Went on trail with some hills.

I'm kinda glad I was by my self. When I mounted I was able to swing my leg over with no pain. I started giggling because I haven't  done that in 2 yrs. My PT told me to stop being so tight hip and ride threw the full motion of the horses stride. It felt great my horse was a little confuse with all the motion in the saddle. But we did great , and dismounting was just as easy I didn't have to stand against my horse for 10 min. Before I could walk and I was total drug free !!! (Happy dance ) I didn't  think i'd never be able to ride pain free.

I've rode Thursday, Saturday and Sunday still pain free yeah. Let's see how work goes tomarrow, I've been back 3 weeks now I was exhausted the first 2 weeks I was so SOB everywhere I walked and I walk a lot at work. I know it with get better .

Thank you again for all your support over these last 4 mos.

Hi everyone!! I'm 9 mos. post op,WOW,what a difference. I really only was suffering for 7 mos before my surgery, when I was told I needed a new hip it came out of right field all the Dr.'s thought it was my herniated disc that I've has since 1997. I work in a medical ICU so I'm on my feet usually my whole shift, and my second job is as a mounted deputy. I'm really glad that I had no choice about surgery in the beginning I'd thought it I would never feel better. But I feel great.

I've been riding my horses 3-4 x a week pain free and drug free. I was able to do my mounted job which entails being in the saddle 8-10 hours. I'm so happy with the results I have. I was afraid in the beginning because everyone was up and moving few days post op. My Dr. was very conservative.6 weeks with a walker at 50% weight bearing, then 5 weeks with a crutch, and I followed all my instructions. (miracle)

Don't get me wrong it was a slow go, and I had a hard time not overdoing it and some days I was so exhausted with my body screaming at me to slow down, but no regrets!!! Just remember all of you who are in the healing process it does and will get better  ;D
