Hi,
Might be kind of a silly question, but what type of shoes would prior surface hippies recommend to wear for the first few weeks post-op? Slip-on? Clogs? Crocs?

I purchased a pair of Merrell Vibrans with sturdy tread, felt supported around ankle & light. They have elastic pull cord laces, so easy on / off and really good for walking early on. As an option, you can also replace normal laces with elastic pull cord laces for ease of tieing. Slip on's would be a good be a good option also.
Also get a long shoe horn!
Hi, a good supportive shoe/trainer, non-slip soles!
Hmmm anything non slip. You definately don't want to go ruining all your surgeon's good work by slipping over! My personal preference was slip ons, as my foot is still quite swollen and i'm finding these easier to get on.
Flip-flops on the beach. Actually I wasn't on the beach, but I did wear flip flops, but I think a slip-on is a must die to the 90 degree restriction, but maybe you should have a touch more support with out the awkardness you get when you slip in a flip-flop, or go backwards,...
Keep in mind that your foot and lower part of your leg will swell up for the first week or so. Comfortable loose-ish shoes would be good.
I found a pair of Londis slip on trainers. Dead easy to put on and rubber soled.
I bought Crocs. Used them all the time in hospital and now at home.
I got them one size up to cope with the swelling- along with the grabber, easily the best things I've bought.
You can just walk into them and easy to adjust and flick off using the crutch bottom-great!
I liked my Sperry slip ons. Great traction, easy on and decent arch support. Fortunatly my husband helped me put on my saucony walking shoes until I reached the 6 week mark.
Dont get anything with an open back. You dont want to slide around in your shoe. Also look at Hoka shoes for walking. Extreme cushion, comfort and ; lightweight.
X2 on the Hoka's, especially for runners. I've been running in them for about a month and it feels like I got my old legs back. During recovery I used old running shoes the laces tied very loosely so I could pull them on and off easily. They stay in place and don't slip around and they are more comfortable than using elastic laces.
