If it's clinically appropriate why wait? You'll just get out of shape and do more damage among surgery more difficult

Hey, welcome to the site.

Like Danny mentioned, if it's called for, and you've had a good experience with the left, it would seem like a good time to do the right, but you have to be ready to do it.

You've had one done, so you know what to expect from that, who was your surgeon, and how did it go? Has the left done well?

Mr Mcminn is my surgeon, left BHR ok but do get some twinges more when not using it, usually fine when exercising, right ok one minute then I'll turn a certain way and pain really bad.......OR OUT WALKING AND SUDDENLY IT STARTS HURTING, PAINFUL WHEN TURNING OVER AT NIGHT, very difficult to get socks/shoes on

The description of your symptoms were  like mine  when I  decided to have it done.   I don't think I ever had an improvement in symptoms.   I finally got tired of toughing it out, and like Hernanu said,  one day I was just ready to do it.  I have had good results on my first surgery, so it probably won't take me as long to be ready to do the other side.

Mr Mcminn did mine too. Agree with everyone else, get it fixed, the sooner the better, will only get worse otherwise. Nothing to lose, can only gain :)

Had mine done almost 7 mo. ago.  Been trying to get back into shape since and it's been a process.  Left hip has been hurting more and more, but I figure I'll just go as long as possible till it's very evident I can't take it anymore.  Everyone gets to that point, and it varies for everyone.  Good luck with your decision.  Bottom line, you really can't make a wrong descision.  It's gotta get done sometime.

Hi Happy Hippy
I think I know what you mean. I feel like a bit of an impostor at times as I feel great one day, but then next day I feel the constant ache and limitation on range of movement.  I talked it though with my physio last week when I saw her and she ensured me that it was only because she'd been keeping me loose and mobile that I hadn't lost much more ROM. What I didn't realise was how much my body had changed to counter act my hip problem - gluteal wasting, flared-out leg whilst pedalling, etc. Keep positive and if your hip is causing you to modify your life then it is a definite indication for corrective surgery.

Anytime it interferes with the quality of your life, i thin it's time to get it fixed and get on without the pain or meds.
