Title: Half marathon 17 months after HR
Post by: pasinvabch on September 03, 2012, 09:27:41 AM
Hi everyone, just wanted to post how the run went yesterday. Finished in 2:27:17. Ran the whole course only stopping to go to the restroom once in the first mile and to get hydration in every single station. I think I had an overall pace of 11:15.(the best time in this race a few years back was 1:50).
I went in with the intention of walking the 1st mile and running the rest but i had time to do some dynamic stretches (hip swings and stuff like that),so i started running slow from the beginning.
I did not have a watch with me for the first time and this gave me freedom to enjoy and not worry about time. I was happy to be there!
I didnt play music either for the first 6 miles, just taking it all in and trying to listen to my body....mile 9 the legs were tired but I knew I was going to finish, the hip was holding good.
Right after, I iced the hip and stretched for a while. I must say the worse part was walking about a mile to the car!!!.  ;D, but smiling the whole way.
Today I'm sore and planning to do some yoga stretches on my own.

Congratulations again.  It sounds like you had a great time for yourself while running a good time for your race.

Great job!  How does this compare to your half marathon times before surgery?
