Not sure where to post this but fascinating stuff. There are possible links to future HR and I suppose it is good to keep abreast of current research.
One thing that puzzles me is that I understood it that the bodies immune system attacked the plastic wear particles over time which caused the bone to lossen hence the the stem implant after 10-15yrs or so. In this article they seem to be saying the body's stem cells builds soft tissue instead of bone and so loosens, maybe they are linked. Already they use a special coating which is supposed to encourage bone ingrowth.

I was reading this article the other day. Its great news and like you say, fascinating. It just goes to show that technlogy is still moving very quickly and that the future is bright for all hippies. HORAY! :)
Very interesting stuff!
Mr Holland told me they are researching into a PEEK hip resurfacing device. I think it will be a Biolex Delta ceramic ball or maybe Oxonium and PEEK cup, but not too sure. Then this nano stuff can be incorporated into that. Amazing.
