I couldn't be happier with my progress to date at my 1 year milestone. I have no regrets having my BHR, it’s handed me my life back & things just keep getting better.
Last night I played tennis for an hour & squash (doubles) for 1.5 hours straight after â€" I was knackered â€" but today I only feel fatigued. My hip is completely pain free. Some of the best exercise I've been able to do in over two years â€" pain & drug free!
The best is yet to come, I'm working towards playing singles squash properly.... the gloves are off now I'm past the official one year mark. ;D
Thanks to all the following folks (in no particular order) for your support along the way â€" Pat, Hernanu, Boomer, Dgossack, fiberMIKE , Aerial, Tin, Gavin, Dan L, Dannywayoflife, Luann, rbt2011, aries, sdunn4, dwbitt, otterdriver, morph, Anna, PistolPete, Woodstock … and so many more who have posted valuable information here.
I’ll be raising a glass this weekend to you all!!

Congratulations to you Kiwi! Life is a blast when all your parts are working. My one year anniversary is coming up shortly and I'll be posting a update of my own.
Thank you for the outstanding update. You give motivation to other Hippy's and encouragement to those just starting their research.
Enjoy your life.
Boomer
So cool to hear that, Simon. Excellent report - it's great when you can take the gloves off.
Congratulations Kiwi! I hope you have many, many more. I am sure you will!
Thanks for sharing your story for others to learn.
Good Luck.
Pat
Knackered apparently doesn't have anything to do with Knickers!?
Congratulations on the successful first milestone!
Bruce
Congrats Kiwi! Thank you for letting us know how well you're doing! Here's to many more!! Lu
Wow, congrats. You should be pretty happy. Love it that "the gloves are off"!!!! ;D I'm only 9 mo, and I hope my 1 yr will be as good of a report as yours is.
That's awesome! Great report. I never tire of hearing how much this procedure changes people's lives. (Although where I come from squash is a yellow vegetable that you saute with butter and onions :) )
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your support.
Pat, I've said it before - This Website is gold, not only as a source of information & support, but as inspiration to so many. Thanks again for everything you do to keep this up & running.
Otterdriver - Knackered = Extremely tired :D
Patrick_d - Sounds tasty ...might have to give that a whirl on the bbq this summer!!
I think we had some squash this past weekend for Thanksgiving. How does that thing stay alive when you bash it around the court? :o
Great news, Kiwi.
That is great to hear. I had wondered about you. I had trouble getting onto this site some months ago so drifted away.
I too am grateful for my new hip and what it can do pain free . I am impressed you are so heavily back into the squash and tennis!
Fantastic. I read many of your early post-op posts here, as you are about 1.5 months ahead of me. I appreciated your recent insight at the time, and am glad to see your tremendous success. Keep on keepin' on!
Cheers for that Rachel & imgetinold. Hope you guys are doing well too.
I recently strained my calf muscle playing squash, so have to take it easy for a few weeks & do some strengthening work - more targeted towards the rigours of squash. Hip is fine - I still reckon I have plenty of room to improve. From what I understand the soft tissues can continue to heal for up to 2 years.
Thanks for all your messages.
Kiwi!
Congrats on the anniversary, sorry for not responding sooner. Sounds like you are really enjoying your new freedom immensely. I know how you feel, it is just this side of magic. It certainly does get better all the time.
Yeah, nackered only, after exertion too, I think. Amazing.
Dan
Kiwi-
Congratulations on 1 year and for such an excellent recovery. A strained calf is not fun, but all things considered, that is a wonderful problem to have especially considering that you did it doing something you would not have been able to do a year ago.
Thanks for all your help and support over the last year. Best wishes for many, many more anniversaries in the future.
BTW-Sorry it took me so long to respond...
Rob
Dan / Rob - No worries re timely response. I trust your recoveries are both going along well too...?
I'm not on here much these days. I guess it's a good sign - less questions & worry and more getting on with life. I still like to stay in touch & hopefully lesson the worry for others looking into having resurfacing.
Cheers for all your support & I really appreciate your responses.
Kiwi
p.s. Back on the court now - turns out it was just a grade 1 strain. :)
Kiwi- Yes, your hip should continue to improve after 1 year. I had noticeable improvements at 18 months and 2 years. It depends on your level of exercise.
