The main metric for success seems to be experience; the lower limit seems to be more than two hundred HR's but the more your surgeon has, the better your prospects.
You have some good options there, but it's not necessary to restrict yourself to the area only. If you're not satisfied with those, you have other highly experienced surgeons further away to go to.
I found that local care in the recuperation was fine, so travel to say, New York or South Carolina for the surgery and care locally is a good alternative. Like I said, though - you have very good options there.
Good luck.
Luvmarcros,
Haven't been on the website for many months so just looking at your post now. I had my right hip resurfaced just about 6 months ago by Dr. Michael Mont. I would highly recommend him and his PA (David Mowry). I just played 4 rounds of golf last weekend with zero pain in my hip. (Unbelievable.) If you have furthers questions about Dr. Mont fire away.

Good to see you, scolis - hope the shingles are just a bad memory..
I highly recommend Dr. Mont as well. I just had my right hip resurfacing (Cormet) on 6/3/2013 (6 weeks ago). Just started PT this morning but have been doing a lot on my own already (swimming, walking, weight lifting upper body, etc). Had the 6 week follow up this week with Dr Mont as well and the xrays look perfect (according to him). Feel free to email me and I'd be happy to share more.
Nice! and welcome - Dr. Mont is well respected.
I am new here, planning on an end of march Left BHR. Has anyone had any experience with Baltimore Doctors other than Dr. Mont? He is not by surgeon BTW.
I wanted some input on other options in the area.
thanks,
