Title: Walking thru Disney World
Post by: Juno on October 13, 2013, 03:59:18 PM
Well, here I am spending a weekend in Disney World. I am 13 1/2 weeks post op of my right hip. For anyone who has been To WDW knows --- its hot and you walk all day! Yesterday we spent 12 hours in the parks and today we were out the door at 7:45am --- finished for lunch at 1:00 and now resting until heading back to Magic Kingdom tonight. Right hip feels FANTASTIC! No pain at all in the hip, glute or knee. There have been a few rides that I have been very careful getting in/out of -- some of the roller coasters especially, but all in all it's been great.

The difference is amazing.

I'm envious! :)  Wonderful progress, Juno!  3 months out and all that walking with no pain.  That's encouraging!

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!  Just curious...are there any security machines down there that set off your metal hip?  I've been there many times but wondering if security has increased.

Great time of the year to be in WDW!

That is great, Juno - avoid anything that would put a lot of stress on the hip and have fun.

Keepmovin-- no issues here with security. No metal detectors, so no issues. The hip feels remarkably well and no pain at all. My other hip is giving me twinges, but that was expected :(
I am definitely no pushing it in terms of do anything weird and off course! Just a lot of walking (in good shoes I might add).

We are heading back into the parks for the last evening and then home tomorrow.

Brilliant! I have frequently muttered thanks under my breath to the clever surgeons and engineers, etc who made it possible. Often at the tops of hills I could not have dreamed of climbing previously.

It makes such an incredible difference to you quality of life.

Have a nice day! (What I remember most from WDW)
