How is the cup angle determined? Does it have anything to do with it's relation to the cap? Or is it strictly to the bones in the pelvis.
In looking at xrays on line it appears that the symetry between the cup and the cap (inner edge of cap to inner edge of cup and the outer edge of cup to outer edge of cap) seem to vary from person to person. So I am guessing that angle has more to do with pelvic bones and the symetry with the cap is not the critical piece when it comes to angle.
Any insight?
Thanks.
If you own a protractor it's easy to measure, somewhere on this site are directions for doing it, use the search function.
You measure the angle of the cup.

There are specific angles that the components are designed to be implanted at and there is only some slight variation alowable within these. The external angle is different from the actual internal angle of the components.
