Title: Lesion
Post by: willsie01 on May 16, 2014, 04:08:42 AM
I’ve had a left hip BHR since 2000 & a right hip BHR since 2004. Both due to Avascular Necrosis.
Both served me well until in 2010 I started to experience severe left leg pain after walking for about 40 minutes. This symptom persisted until recently I have developed knee/hip/groin pain that I experience frequently.
Just received a copy of the report on a recent MRI and it refers to “well demarcated lesion of cystic signal intensity seen...”.  Can anyone help me with the implications of this?

Sorry for the bad news, but that doesn't sound good. Have you had a metal ion test? What does your doctor say? Koen De Smet did a free diagnosis (no strings attached) for my failed HR when I sent him information/x-rays by e-mail (google Anca Clinic/Koen De Smet to find out where to send information).
Good luck!
Tim

Hi willsie01
Just in case you don't know about this possibility, I thought I'd give you a reference to look over. The article is a simple to read, unopinionated and up-to-date survey that looks like it was written by a student as a project:

http://www.isu.edu/radsci/papers12/108.pdf (http://www.isu.edu/radsci/papers12/108.pdf)

Remember, I am NOT a doctor and I CANNOT diagnose your problem, but I thought an unbiased source of information might help you to understand the possibilities.

Cheers
Tim
