I had bi-lateral "mini" hip surgery with Dr. Marchand on February 13, 2015. Despite my surgery being on Friday the 13th I have had tremendous success. I am a 53 year old active male. Osteoarthritis was causing me pain, limited motion and limiting my activities. Originally, I planned to go with the BHR, but after research, soul searching, and more research I opted for the mini hip. Considerations of my decision included the potential for metal reaction with BHR and the availability of mako-plasty with the mini hip. I cannot say enough about Dr. Marchand, his staff and the wonderful team at South County Hospital. They were efficient, professional, and thorough. I am almost 4 months post op now and I am doing most everything (gym, biking, yard work, etc) I did prior to surgery and more. If I can be of assistance to anyone considering this surgery please let me know. :)
Congrats,
Are you allowed to run on this "mini" hip, or do you have the same rules as a traditional THR? What are the advantages of a mini hip compared to a standard THR?
Hi Richo. Awesome. Great to here your doing well within the system you opted for. There are many out there and lots of different results. Great to here you got your life back cheers K
