Title: Mr. McMinn's new Polymotion Hip Resurfacing Device
Post by: Pat Walter on February 07, 2016, 12:06:00 PM
Interesting article about Mr. McMinn's new Polymotion Hip Resurfacing Device.

The Polymotion Hip Resurfacing device is an allergy-free device that uses a 3mm-thick cup made with a material known as cross-linked polyethylene, one of the toughest plastics in existence.

I also posted Elain Williams story because she is the first of 3 patients to receive the new Hip Resurfacing Device.

It is always interesting to learn about new devices and patient stories. I think it is a good sign that Mr. McMinn is working on an alternative to metal on metal hip resurfacing devices.

I like this better than the Synovo because it's as thin as a metal cup (or so it seems, can't find any detailed info). Instead of housing the plastic in a metal cup they apply titanium to the plastic. Very clever. Kudos to McMinn and team to develop an alternative that will work for the small sizes. Time will tell how this fares against the metal on metal.

That being said I still think the metal "allergy" issue is non-existent (clearly beliefs differ) and don't understand why doctors like McMinn perpetuate this. But, having multiple options for type of material used on a resurfacing is ultimately a good thing.

:) Yep its pretty cool Danny.
I don't have the BHR"s but I have conserve pluses. My opinion what he really is saying there is no replacement for the BHR but he will try and give the other options a go. So I reckon he is a pretty awesome sort of bloke to keep at it after all these years. One has to remember all the other types of devices and surgeons out there doing there thing with Hip resurfacing and it is probably massive world wide.
I myself have high Iron levels no effect. So the fuss maybe in the detail of also what the person has in their diet. What type of fuel suits that person. I think there is more to this allergy thing that we as humans know about due our diet has changed in the last 10,000 years but our digestive system is a couple of million years old. Large area to learn and probably a lot of opinions. Cheers K
