Hello friends
I'm new to the site and was hoping someone had any experiences with BHR surgeons in Houston?
I'm 50 and have severe arthritis in my right hip due to competitive racquetball over the last 20 years. I've been to 2 surgeons in Houston- Dr Kruetzer who no longer does Hip Resurfacing and Dr Greg Stocks who claims I'm a good candidate for BHR. I've also been told by Kreutzer based on my X-ray that I have a good size tumor which could pose a problem with BHR. Anyone have experiences with Biomet and their Mini hip device? I have also consulted with Dr Gross and he claims I'm an excellet candidate but he doesn't take my insurance. I look forward
To any suggestions and getting through this so I can get back to the courts and my active lifestyle
Chris
Hi sorry can't help you with surgeons in the US but how about a trip across the pond? Ok insurance won't cover but from what I can tell the most important factor with resurfacing is the experience of the surgeon and they don't get much better by reputation than Derek McMinn, I am booked with him for bilateral BHR in November (obviously I can't assume everything will go fine for me but I am very comfortable with my choice and feel I stand the best possible chance of success with him) and to be quite honest there are not many others I would have chosen, Ronan Tracey is another good choice so I believe. I know its a big call to go abroad but this is such a life changing procedure that I think it is best to explore all options.
All the best with your search and I wish you a successful treatment.
