Title: Andy Murray
Post by: joshb7_ on February 26, 2020, 11:02:25 AM
Hi,

Has anybody experienced bone growing into the hip - the injury marring Murray's return to tennis. What are the symptoms of this and do you think he can make it back?

Josh

It is heterotropic ossification which is usually prevented by radiation therapy to complete the surgery.

This happened to a friend of mine. Calcium seems to start to develop in the muscle. The body goes crazy with repair. Not sure why....

Pre-op I had a very significant Calcium build up on my hip.  it was causing major impingement.  My surgeon said it is a result of our bodies trying to protect itself.  It senses an injury or issue and send calcium to protect itself but makes things worse.

Congratulations to Andy Murray, wins his first match at Wimbledon since 2017.  Caught the replay, he looked good.
