I had my 2 year follow-up with Dr. Gross last week. My metal levels were ideal: 0.7 chromium/ 1.5 cobalt (both within normal range for a person without replacements). Dr. Gross said my x-rays looked good and then after the physical exam gave me exercises to improve my external rotation of the hip. I even got a Midlands Orthopedics t-shirt that I will proudly wear :D
I have returned to my pre-surgery activity levels. I run ~35 miles per week, swim and lift weights 2 X per week and take daily walks with my husband. Life is good except for this pandemic. :( I plan to return to racing when travel and races are more normal. We had a little trouble finding restaurants with adequate staff on our trip to Columbia, SC!
Congratulations on your anniversary. Your story and positive outcome should encourage the many newly diagnosed what a wonderful opportunity the surgery offers and a notice of the exemplary results Dr. Gross and the other top surgeons can achieve. Enjoy.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
I'm on Dr. Midlands Calendar for a Dr. Gross resurfacing. I'm nervous for sure. Stories like this make me feel better.
LarryBud you are in good hands!!
Wow.....35 miles a week? That's amazing. Way to go!
LarryBud......you couldn't be going to a more competent doctor anywhere. He is the BEST, and you'll understand that once you're done. It's life changing!
Jwall07, great to hear you're doing so well!! Gives me something to shoot for!
LarryBud, I'm 7 weeks out from a Dr. Gross resurfacing. I agree with all of the above, excellent process from beginning to end. If/when I have to have the other hip done, I won't be anywhere near as nervous.
I guess I have to wait for year 2 to get a t-shirt :P
