Title: First Mountain Biking Since Resufacing #2
Post by: imgetinold on August 16, 2021, 02:39:58 PM
So, 7 months out (about a month ago) I went mountain biking for the first time since surgery with the wife and son.  I had bought a brand new Fezzari Delano carbon fiber mountain bike as an incentive, replacing my ancient 21 year old mountain bike, so I was super excited.

I had been doing a workout program with my wife for six weeks which is pretty intense, so I was in decent shape (Check out Hannah Eden on YouTube.....she's a beast).  Anyway, about 8 miles into a 13 mile total, I STUPIDLY try to keep up with my 18-year-old.  Bad idea.  The score was

Tree: 1
Me: 0

Other than the bleeding, trail rash, sore shoulder and bruised ego, I was fine.  Hip was totally fine.

It's not REALLY mountain biking until you bleed anyway.......

Wow Iam, I'm glad you're ok.  That looks like quite a spill!!

You know what they say.  "when you fall off a horse, you cry and never go near those cursed things again"  That is what they say isn't it?

Gee, Andy… anything else you’d like to get Dr. Gross’s team to repair?  I hear they do great with shoulders, knees, egos… arses….  :D

Whoa Andy. Well I hope it was fun. :) One word. ATGATT! (All the gear all the time). I never ride without knee and elbow protection (and hip too actually). It's cheap (vs. medical care) and has saved me at least a dozen times. And a nice light weight full face is totally worth it too. (Check out the IXS trigger ff or similar (before its too late)). Brains are much harder to repair and you're totally worth the cost even without that expensive prosthetic ;). Keep those wounds clean!

Cheers,
LDub

Cool.....never had a ff helmet before.  I don't generally do crazy stuff or jump on my bike, even though my new bike (Fezzari Delano, carbon fiber) can easily handle it.  But I'll look into it.
