9 days out from bilateral with Dr. De Smet. So far, so good, with improvement every day! Thanks to all who offered ideas and support. Much appreciated!
Sounds like you are well on your way to being totally pain free and that is a beautiful thing!!! In my recovery, I have been following my Dr's protocols to a T and not pushed it (except for walking). Things have progressed in a positive way well beyond what I thought possible. So I suggest not to get too crazy after a few months because you feel like you can go out and start playing flag football, basketball or something like that. Wishing you a fantastic recovery.
One month out yesterday, and still progressing just fine. I’ve got a lot of years of quirky movement habits to undo, but I’m finding that it’s kind of fun to learn a new way of moving! I can’t get over how weird it is to be able to keep both legs squarely underneath me, with no grinding or popping! :)
That is awesome to hear. I'm glad things are going well for you!
Thankfully I saw Dr Gross early on when my pain just started and didn't have time to develop compensation habits for the pain/mobility.
It's amazing what this procedure can do
It gets better a little bit each day. I rarely even think about mine anymore (15 months out from surgery). Walked 7+ miles on the golf course this past weekend, on a very hilly back 9, and it was everything BUT my hip that was hurting ;D
Congrats!
6 weeks out from bilateral resurfacing as of yesterday. I can put on my socks and tie my shoes! (Insert party hat and noisemaker here.). Some days I can even forget I had surgery. I still have to pay attention to how I walk, as I’m trying to build good new habits, but it’s getting easier every day. I hardly ever notice the left hip, which was the one in better shape. The right hip gets a bit bitey now and then if I get lazy with glute activation. (I had a hard time getting the glutes to activate on that side before surgery, so I’m working on that. I suspect that the doc did a bit more remodeling on that side too.).
All in all, darned great progress in my book! Best damned decision I ever made. ;D
That is awesome! It was well after 6 weeks before I could do that, and I only had one side done! Congratulations!
Thanks, PalmettoGolfer! It’s so nice to be on the upswing after all this time.
