Title: Looking for advice
Post by: nafisher on December 14, 2022, 04:03:56 PM
Is there anyone on here who is young (I am 27yo for perspective) who is willing to video call or talk on the phone with me? I am trying to decide whether or not to have surgery and I think another perspective would be helpful. Everyone around me thinks I am nuts and I am starting to believe them. I think it is because I get around just fine without too much pain, but whenever I run, or do anything too athletic, my hips flare up. I have had hip scopes (2 in left and 1 in right) and they did little to nothing for me. I also think my hips are causing me to be less healthy than I would normally be if I was able to exercise without pain.

If you are someone who is willing to reach out to me personally, my email is nick.a.fisher7@gmail.com. Any and all encouragement/advice is appreciated, thanks!

Hi Nick,

Very sorry you have to deal with this so young. I had the surgery 7 months ago at the age of 34 and found the decision extremely difficult. Since I am not yet where I would like to be, not even now I can really say whether it was the completely right call :)

We can absolutely talk. Did you already talk to or email with some of the resurfacing experts so you know you would be a candidate for the procedure? I sent my X-rays and MRIs to Dr. Gross and Dr. DeSmet and talked/emailed with them (and some others) quite extensively before making a decision.

Wishing you all the best,
Alex
