Title: Non metal resurfacing
Post by: Sal on January 18, 2024, 08:25:36 AM
Hi there … has anybody  had experience w non metal resurfacing… I know Dr Pritchett in Seattle is doing it.
After all the discussions on metal on metal … I am forced to think about non metal. i think in total hip replacements also they are  going away from metal on metal and are using a similar non metal cup that Dr Pritchett uses …any thoughts ?

Sal,

I was a bilateral HR patient of Dr. Pritchett in 2018.  He did both hips with the Synovo cross poly prosthesis he helped develop.  I expressed my preference for this prior to surgery but also conveyed that as the expert the decision should be his.  These doctors go into the OR with a large selection of hardware so they are prepared for whatever they encounter so in all likelihood MOM devices were also present and available.  As I said, he did both my surgeries with the cross poly device and I couldn't be happier with the results.  5 years now, going strong, and if the choice is available to you I would recommend Dr. Pritchett as one of the most skilled and successful orthopedic surgeons you'll find anywhere.

Like jimbone I've had both of my hips resurfaced by Dr. Pritchett. I believe my right hip is now 8 years old and my left is three. No problems at all. Both of my hips feel like normal, natural hips that were never diseased. I've had an excellent outcome.
