Hello all, further to my post on the 4th of this month regarding the investigation of a LBHR which was complicated by the possible need to have my femur re-broken and set inward to have any chance on a re-surfacing as advised by my surgeon. I was in shock at this situation at the tender age of 42, i remember how long the recovery was when i broke my femur at 19.......long and difficult.
I had my appointment today with the Mcminn team for a second opinion, whow what a difference, the appointment was detailed and informative with a full investigation into the history of my left leg and hip. It now appears i am a candidate for a re-surf without having to re-set the femur, obviously Mr Mcminn will need to access bone quality when the operation is being done, but i'm fit... do not smoke or drink...so fingers crossed.
The positive here is i do not need to have a THR, well not yet! surgery is pencilled in for end of Jan 09.
The main point for me to make is ALWAYS seek a second or third opinion, i have learnt this from you guys and without this site i may have settled on my first doctors opinion...for this i am truly gratefull....i have received a great Christmas prezzie, i'm now going to pack my case, my family and me are off to Lanzorote for Christmas...leaving the cold of UK behind.
peace and Merry Christmas
Hi Tekka
That is great news. Thanks for posting and educating all of us.
I always tell people that there are many great surgeons world wide - but if you have a difficult problem - seek out the most experienced. You have done that and hopefully you will get your resurfacing.
Have a very Merry Christmas.
Looking forward to hearing more next year.
