Surgery Aug 9
« on: August 01, 2010, 09:07:39 AM »
I won't be posting or answering email from Aug 3 to about Aug 16.  I am having open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve at the Cleveland Clinic on Aug 9.  Hopefully, it will be a minimally invasive surgery with only a 3-4 inch cut through my sternum.  I will be in ICU a couple days and pretty much out of it for a few days after that. I am going up this week for all my pre-testing.

I wanted to make sure people knew why I was not answering email or answering posts.  Chuck will be watching the Hip Talk Discussion Group so nothing goes wrong while I am gone.  It is always being moderated so spam, porn, ads and big arguments are not posted.  Thank You to Chuck for his past efforts and for watching the group while I am gone.

I will see everyone on the other side and will post an update when I can.  The Cleveland Clinic is rated as the Number 1 heart hospital in the US.  My surgeon has replaced over 2700 valves, so he is very experienced.  If anyone has valve problems and wants to be part of another great discussion group, check out the Valve Replacement.Org Forum

Heal quickly Patty..... we all will miss you for a few weeks but when it's all over you'll be like a 20 year old girl  ;-)

Don't worry about the forum, this is a great group.

Dear Pat.
I am sure that once again you will heal quickly with no problems. If you need any good advice on recovery, I know of a gal named Pat that always gives good advice on such things. You should probably listen to her ;)
Best wishes,

John

This forum gave me the inspiration and confidence I needed to go for my hip resurfacing in April, so now it’s my turn to say “Good luck Pat, and hurry back soon".
