When were you able to start wearing high heel shoes?  Are there any heel height restrictions?  I've been in flats for 2 months now and I'm short (5'1).  Looking forward to getting some height back and getting my pants off the ground.

I started wearing 2-3 inch heels right about the time I went back to work.  I started back at one month post-op.  I believe I wore heels toward the end of that first week back to work.  I really never go higher than 2-3 inches so I'm not talking super high heels.  I also found up until about 8 weeks I really couldn't wear them every day.  Truthfully, I prefer flatter shoes but sometimes duty calls!

Thanks for the feedback. I don't go back to my doctor for another month so I really appreciate your input. Yes!

Hi mslendzion,

I mostly still wear flats for hip comfort, but I started occasionally wearing heals about 2 months post op.  Four inch heels made me feel so great!  Yet, my hips were not as excited as I was at the end of the day.  I'm applying for a job this week that looks like a 'shoe in', so when I start mid April to May 1st, the heels are coming out for everyday.

My short girlfriends need their heels like a seal needs water!  I sure hope you can be comfortable in them soon.

I think I'm going to give it a go next week but bring in my flats just in case. I only wear 2 to 2.5 inches today but every bit helps.

2for1 - good luck on your interview.

I started wearing heels after about 6 weeks.  I asked Dr. Gross if it was OK.  He said it would not hurt my hip joints but he was concerned about me falling!  Of course, I informed him I've been wearing them for a lot of years, and have not fallen yet!  The only thing is it can get uncomfortable after a whole day at work in the beginning.  My discomfort was muscular, not in the joint, and went away as soon as I took the shoes off.  Now, about 5 months after my second hip surgery, I can wear them all day long with no problem.

It's great to feel normal!!!!

Forgot to mention that really high ones will be less comfortable at first.  I would try to stay below 3 inches until you're completely healed (or should I say heeled?).

Can't help you there. I gave up heels 15 yrs ago.  It's like a 1 or 2 time a year thing for me now.
