Vaccinations
« on: June 10, 2013, 10:27:22 PM »
Hi, I'm traveling to India (multi locations), Hong Kong, and Singapore and need to get my vaccinations.  Does anyont know if would impose any risks or concerns with a BHR?
Thank you.

I called my surgeon's office and they said no need to worry about the following vaccinations:

Hepatitis A
Polio
Typhoid
Hepatitis B
Japanese Encephalitis
Malaria
Rabies

If you are going to take any anti-malaria med, my advice would be to take the malarone, NOT the mefloquine.  I was prescribed the mefloquine form, and 10 hours into a 17 hour flight I became ill from it.  Later I was told by a travel clinic that particular form is notorious for such side effects, and that altitude can have an effect.  Since it is a once-a-week med, when I flew back I waited until I was back on the ground to take it.  Malarone is a once-a-day med, but that is what I would choose next time.

Yeah, I took the malarone when I went to Ecuador, had no problems from it.
