which hip to start with
« on: July 18, 2008, 10:45:28 PM »
I plan on having both done by the end of the year but thought I'd start with the one that originally took me to the OS.  Now my other one seems to be worse.  The xrays show both equally shot!  Does anyone have experience with having trouble deciding which to start with?
Thanks.

Does your doctor do bilaterals?  If not how far apart does he do them?

I actually am very bad in both hips as well. One of the overseas Doctors wanted to do the right one first, as the cartilage is worse there. After more emails back and forth, I decided to go with Dr. Su. We actually have the left one scheduled first, as the bone structure in that one is more challenging then in the right side.

My point? One Doc may decide one thing while the other Doc say another. What you as a patient have to do is decide which Doctor, based on your research, is going to give you the outcome you are most comfortable with and then work together with them on a plan for you.
