Hello,

Just thought I would share with the group a progress report. Swam today with some swim buddies, felt great to be moving. I stopped at 2000 yards, my group is a bunch of grinders, felt myself starting to
push it, time to stop. I continue to walk twice a day on the treadmill.  Or as I like to call it the dreadmill.  I prefer to be outside, but it is still safer, and warmer than outside right now living in MAINE. I’ve dropped down my walking miles  a bit, because I ramped up a little too quickly in PO week 3.  Brought the dog for a 1 1/2 mile walk in a snow covered field.  Not one of my best decisions, but just was a little sore for a couple of days. This past week, I have not taken any pain meds, the only issue is my elbow from swimming a lot pre surgery.  The nice thing about taking all of those pain meds post op is that my elbow did not bother me.  I thought taking several weeks off from swimming that my elbow would heal up.  I was wrong,  it is kinda nice that now my elbow bothers me more than my hips!  I was going to go back to S.C. for my 6 week check up,  I decided to do my follow up remotely because I’m really am not having any issues.  I’m looking forward to working  on strength and flexibility. I Will be meeting with a local physical therapist for an evaluation, and report that to Dr. Gross. Looking  forward to doing some different stuff, I think he told me I could start riding an indoor bike, golf, and play tennis at 6 weeks. I need to check with him on the tennis.  That seems to me like it could be a little too much.

I will say that I am really happy that I had both hips done only 2 days apart.  Had I stuck with my original plan I would have been heading back down to see Dr. Gross this coming week to have my second hip done. Glad that I had some advice from this site to help me make that decision.  Not to say that 6 weeks apart, wouldn’t work for someone else, but in my case it was worth doing both together.

Regards all,

Tony
