In January of 2008, I had my left hip resurfaced in Madison Wisconsin at University Hospitals and Clinics with a cemented Biomet device. My outcome has been excellent. Fast forward to today and now my right hip is wearing out. The surgeon who performed my left resurfacing no longer performs resurfacings and tried to steer me towards a total hip replacement. No thanks. I reached out to Dr. Gross and I have surgery scheduled for September 21, 2016. Anyone have any guidance to offer me? Dr. Gross indicated I’m a suitable candidate for the outpatient option.
Had surgery earlier today. I’m about 6 hours post op. Relaxing back at the Marriott with the ice machine.
Flew home to Wisconsin from SC yesterday. Right now, I’m icing with my Polar Care unit and watching Netflix.

I’m now four days post op. I’m able to get around with one crutch and have switched to just Tylenol for pain. I have noticed more swelling today in my operative leg. Hopefully it’s nothing to be concerned about and I’m going to start icing.

I’m now nine days post-op. I feel a little better every day. I’m taking two extra strength Tylenols a day for pain and I’m walking with a cane.

I’m 17 days post op. Sometimes I use my cane sometimes, I don’t. Took a 1/2 mile walk today without the cane. Felt a little pain in the front of my thigh, which went away after my walk was over. I am grateful that I continue to feel a little better each day.

Just completed my 6 week post op check with Lee Webb and Dr. Gross. According to them, my X-rays look perfect. On to phase 2 of Dr. Gross’s fast recovery program. I feel very fortunate.

I’m now six months post op. I’m back to practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and did some live rolling(sparring) last night. Hip felt great, no problems.
