I had a BHR for my left hip on November 18th,
2011. Dr. Rector was my surgeon. I am 56 years old and have been
very active all my life. I have had 4 years of decreased mobility
with this past year developing a limp. The first 2 weeks went fair,
a low spot on days 4,5,6 but much better after that. (Hard for me to
be so needy).
The start of week 3 I was walking unassisted,
with no joint pain and marginal discomfort from surgery.
I am at week 7 and feel great. Back to all I was
doing pre-surgery and doing more daily. I expect I will be doing
everything I want to do by summer. I have been back in Karate class
(I am a 4th dan in Tang Soo Do) since the start of week six, not
doing any kicking yet, but stances and upper body motions are
performed with power and balance. I am fully back at work (HVAC
service technician) and all is well except shouldn’t carry over 30#.
Gait is good no more limb.
My comment for anyone getting ready for this type
of surgery is; GET READY!! Do your push ups and sit ups, it will
make every thing easier.
Thanks,
Ken Newton
