Luke Thomas BHR Dr. Shahrdar 2009
My two year anniversary (May, 2011) for the right hip resurfacing procedure
performed by Dr. Cambize Shahrdar of The Orthopedic Clinic in Shreveport, LA
is almost here. I have waited to write this letter until now because of my
skepticism as to whether I would ever be able to walk without a noticeable
limp much less be active – jogging, golf, resistance training – again.
For
the five years prior to the surgery my activity level dramatically decreased
over a period of time until I was unable to walk 100 meters without having
to stop and sit down. I knew something needed to be done but I was wary of
surgery. I researched and ask for opinions about possible surgeons from many
different sources. One name consistently showed up at the top of the list –
Dr. Cambize Shahrdar.
When I first met with Dr. Shahrdar in the Spring of 2009 I was expecting
to be told that a total hip replacement was the only solution. Too my
surprise, after a thorough examination, Dr. Shahrdar announced that I was a
good candidate for the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing. The surgery was performed
at Willis-Knighton – Pierremont Medical Center in Shreveport in May of 2009.
It is now a year and a half later and I am exercising and playing golf
again – pain free and no limp. Without a doubt the combination of the
surgical procedure and the expertise of Dr. Shahrdar made this possible.
