Marcia Klun Hip Resurfacing Left BHR with Dr. Rogerson 10/27/06
POST-OP PATIENT JOURNAL: MARCIA KLUN (LT BHR 10/27/06)
“While I am anxious to go home today, I really feel fortunate to have participated in the HipHab experience. It was the perfect transition to follow surgery.
My surgery went well. Each day I continue to make positive strides. The only negative aspect for me has been my reaction to the medications.
According to the therapists and Dr. Rogerson other patients have reacted similarly.
I stopped the pain drip about 8 hours after surgery because of nausea. When I switched to oral pain medications, I had the same negative reaction.
On Saturday morning, I switched to Tylenol and that has helped. Even with therapy and walking exercises, Tylenol has managed the pain nicely. The iron dosage also caused nausea problems so on Sunday and Monday, I felt nauseous, light headed and weak. Even so the therapy sessions, especially the water therapy on Monday were extremely beneficial. I was amazed at the increased mobility I had. The therapists, Caroline, Desiree and Gabrielle have played a big roll in our success. They have been extremely supportive and attentive to our need.
Sleeping for me has been difficult; however not for the same reasons as before surgery. The sofa sleeper (unopened) was more comfortable for me then the bed. Even at this point seven days out of surgery, I am in less pain than I was prior to the surgery.
I am so looking forward to walking normally and sleeping comfortably again. Each day I feel I’m getting a little closer to that reality.
I wish the best of luck to those who will have similar surgery in the future. I’m so glad I chose Dr. Rogerson and the HipHab experience.” -Marcia Klun, Cottage Grove, WI.
