In this video I am walking cane-free in week 5 post-op of surgery. I officially dropped the cane week 4 plus 3 days. It was hard the first couple days, but quickly my muscles responded and became stronger to walk more upright. I feel great in the mornings and can walk perfectly straight but as the day progresses, my muscles fatigue quickly. So far, I am extremely pleased with the results.
History on me:
I am 36 years old and I was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia and severe arthritis in my right hip at the age of 33. My local doctor said I needed a total hip replacement but we could postpone it by taking prescription NSAID’s and pain medicines. I tried that but the pain became so severe and debilitating, that I quickly began researching my surgery options.
I chose the Birmingham Hip Replacement (BHR) procedure due to the successful stories and outcomes as a result. Done correctly, you can expect more flexibility and range of motion as the BHR procedure has a larger head more similar in size to the natural head of the femur.
Feel free to comment or message me if you would like additional information.
My doctor is: Dr. Gary Levengood of Sports Med South. I highly recommend him and his staff for any orthopedic issues.
