8 Year Update
Sorry it’s been a while since I last updated about my hip.
I had one of the replacements that got recalled, and I’m glad to be able to say that I’ve had no problems with it, thank goodness, a lot has happened to me in the last 4 years, and having a goo hip, helps, I’m now married, with 4 step kids and 4 step grand kids, with a 5th on the way, so as you can imagine, having a good hip helps.

I have my pre-op on Thursday, and I’ve been told that I need to decide between resurfacing and total hip replacement.
I’m 34, they’ve not been able to find what actually caused this problem, they say it’s osteo arthritis, but all the blood test say it’s not arthritis.
Our “wonderful” free health system isn’t that “wonderful, we have waiting lists for operations, Dr Bamford said that the waiting list for my op was 18 weeks.
District Nurse visited the other day, and was happy with the way it was healing, and yesterday, I left hte house for the first time since returning from hospital, went and helped mum around a cat sanctuary she helps at. Took this gently, and everything was fine.
Will be going out more each day, but being careful.
I can now get around the house, and two flights of stairs without a crutch, and I only use a crutch now, when I go out, just in case.
I still have a slight limp, but it’s a lot better than it was before the op. I go back to the hospital for a check up next week.

Nothing bad I’m glad to be able to report, just been busy with recovery, and catching up with stuff that I couldn’t do while on bed rest… I do video production, and not being able to sit for long periods of time doesn’t help.
I had my 13 week check up my my surgeon this afternoon, well it ws one of his staff, but she was nice, and after looking at my x-ray, and hearing from me about my recovery, she was happy with my progress.
I don’t need to go back till 1 year…. YAY.
And most importantly, I start back at university next monday to start year 2, of my 3 year course. I’ll still have to be careful, because i’m doing a course which is 75% practical…..
