I’m about 6 weeks post-op and 41 years of age. I also have a stationery bike in the basement, hooked up to the computrainer. They say to ride without resistance for 6 weeks, but honestly, that is pretty lame. What resistance level did you use and did you work up a pretty good sweat? I need to really work some of the fat I’ve gained in the last six weeks!… Read the rest
April 8, 2010 – 46yr old scheduled 4/28 with Dr. Brooks in Cleveland. I will be traveling roughly 5 hours from SoCen PA. I am a nurse and cracking myself up that I have not met him but feel completely ready to GO! I feel like this is the right surgery for me and need to thank a patient I did a stress test on, who first mentioned this surgery … Read the rest
Dr. Brooks performed my LBHR last October 2010 and I am very pleased with the results. I never experienced any pain post surgery: In the hospital, the nurses would ask periodically throughout the day what my pain level was, on a scale of 1 to 10, and I don’t recall ever getting above a 2. I stopped taking percocet (or whatever the prescription pain reliever was) after less than a … Read the rest

Update October 5, 2016
5 years yesterday on my left BHR, doing extremely well. No issues with the implants, walk 20-25 miles/week motivated by keeping weight off to extend hip life, which has improved overall health measurably. Walk at just under 4mph consistently on hilly terrain. … Read the rest
August 19, 2010 I am 3 weeks post op and doing great. (RBHP Dr.Brooks) Pain is very minimal. Last night I slept for the first time w/o any pain meds which I was taking mainly to battle my distaste for sleeping on my back all night. I can even lie on the surgical side now but would still rather not. Walking nicely w/ one or two crutches. My only real … Read the rest
May 24, 2010 I had a RBH by Dr. Peter Brooks at the Cleveland Clinic on 04/12 and am on 75% weight bearing for 7 weeks. It is annoying – but – I’ll do anything to make this heal properly. As for the 90 Degree angle – I don’t have tht restriction or any other restrictions usually associated with hip replacement – thank goodness. I too feel like I probably … Read the rest
August 4, 2008 I am on day 11. I had the BHR done by Dr Brooks at the Cleveland Clinic. Today is the first day I feel somewhat human. November 15, 2012 5+ years Post Op
Just wanted to get a quick note out about my 5 year visit with Peter Brooks at the Cleveland Clinic for my Right BHR. I saw Dr. Brooks a week after playing in the Grand Masters and Super Grand Masters Divisions of the Lake Placid Lacrosse Tournament in August. I played 9 games over four days for the third time in the past … Read the rest
I’m 51 and have bilateral from Dr. Bose 2010 and 2011.
These are some notes that might help anyone going into the hip repair project. Story starts in 1999, after doing a gym competition, which involved spinning at 150+ RPM for about 7 minutse; to win a track suit (never collected) my hips became very stiff. Ignoring this for a year, did a long triathlon in Japan, with a marathon … Read the rest
I had my operation on January 7, 2010 by Dr. Bose and I came back into a whirlwind of work as a Certified Public Accountant in the midst of tax season here in the United States. Since then, as you’ve probably heard the economy has been in the tank and running my business has taken precedence over almost everything else.
I am from North Carolina, USA and had been having … Read the rest

From : Ms Joan Gunnes:
Ok, I thought you’d enjoy this……I started teaching my yoga class 13 days post op! Yes, I stood with my cane for most of it, but I could do side bends, some forward and backward bending and I did in fact teach the class! And I’ve been at it ever … Read the rest
