Paul Reynolds Hip Resurfacing Left BHR with Dr. Rogerson 2/2/07
Surgery Date- February 2, 2007
“I often think about generations past. How did people make it through middle to old age without treatment options, like we have now? I know their quality of life was greatly short-changed. We have been blessed with another chance that others didn’t have.
To my fellow HipHab Hipsters, it is my last day here at Meriter Retirement Center. Am I still sore? – Yes. Is there still stiffness? – Yes. Is there still discolorations? – Yes. Is there still some lingering pain? – Yes. Am I really well? Well…Yes. Considering I’m only 5 days removed from surgery. To me it’s almost unbelievable!
I have had my left hip (and right) under evaluation since 2000. That’s right, I would have qualified for surgery years ago but I did not want conventional surgery and my interest in going overseas and paying 100% out-of-pocket was not appealing to me. I waited and waited.
Finally the FDA came through and I like you have one of the best if no, the best doctors available right here in Madison, Wisconsin to do the surgery.
Dr. Rogerson, his entire staff and extended staff here at Meriter are truly wonderful. I know I speak for all of us when I say “These people care! They really get it!”
Short of a few non-team players at the Hospital, we have been exposed to exceptionally professional and caring people.
No question or concern has gone unanswered. Nothing has been overlooked. I cannot imagine going home after a 3 day hospital stay and feeling good about my prospects. I feel pretty positive about my long-term prospects as we speak.
I have had wonderful support from my family and friends, especially my coach and wife Susan. For those of you supporting – we cannot do it without you!
I’ll be back in the near future for the right hip. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to a pain-free life.” -Paul Reynolds Fitchburg, WI
