Vietnamese martial art – Arte Marziale Vietnamita
This is the first training session after surgery where I train my legs with kicks and Vovinam techniques. Obviously it’s all a bit like starting over but knowing what to do. At the moment the real muscular and non-articular sober difficulties. The left hip works great. I feel free .. in short, new, but my muscles need a good workout, more than anything else because I could no longer stretch as I was used to, so I lost a lot of elasticity, but I will definitely get back in shape … Read the rest

Best thing I have ever done! Got my left hip resurfacing with Mr McMinn in 1999 and 20 years later it’s still great. I’m an active person doing cycling, walking, swimming, gym and judo. A normal hip replacement would have probably been revised 20 years ago! Right hip resurfacing done in 2014 and perfect and still very active at nearly 67.

Big Show’s Original Story Here
According to The Big Show, who opted for a hip resurfacing over a full out replacement to preserve the possibility of returning the ring, he is faster now, has better range of motion, and has more to give in the squared circle.
“Right now, [my] quality of life is really good. There’s no stiffness. My range of motion is ridiculous.” Big Show said, “I’m not done in the ring yet. Hell, I’m 380 lbs. I feel now, especially in my hip, has more range of motion now, and I’m faster than I moved in 17 [or] 18 years. I wrestled with Fit Finlay a little bit at WrestleMania. I got in there and rolled around the ring with Fit and … Read the rest

I just wanted to check in and show my recent yoga photo. I’ve come so far in the past two years and most can’t believe I am a bilateral hip patient. I recently completed my 200 hour yoga teacher certification. My ROM and flexibility is really great and is getting better every day. I see constant improvement!! In this photo I am hopeful one day the hands will grasp the foot….just need a little more openness in the hips and to lengthen the psoas a bit more.
So glad to have my life back!! Getting my hips done was the best thing I’ve done for myself.

My surgery date with Dr. Amstutz was 8/29/06.
I had been in considerable pain for four years
before the surgery, but thought it was do to
spinal stenosis. I saw Dr. Amstutz after Kaiser
diagnosed my right hip to be bone on bone
osteoarthritis and would need a replacement and
of course, to wait as long as possible. I met
Calvin Jung , an Amstutz bilateral through a
mutual friend and the hip resurfacing seemed the
way to go.
I had a great experience with the surgery.
Dr. Amstutz and this was, I might add, the first
time I have had any surgery or been in a
hospital other than to deliver my son in the
hallway!
