My name is Kathleen & I wanted a chance to add my story to your site.I am 39 years old & Dr. Mont performed left hip resurfacing on me on January 3rd 2008.I had spent the last 25 years dealing with the progressively worsening effects of being hit by a car at the age of 14.I had been told that a hip replacement would be necessary someday, but at age 39, was
I had left Cormet hip resurfacing with Dr. Mont on Oct. 13, .just over a month ago, and I seem to be healing nicely. I was extraordinarily pleased with his skill. I think he is brilliant.
I am now 6.5 weeks post-op. I returned to my sedentary job 5.5 weeks post op. I still use one crutch at work, but around the house I’m full weight bearing.
I am fortunate to have two exercise devices

I learned that I had Osteoarthritis on my 47th birthday November of2007. After playing basketball consistently for months my legs and body were getting stronger but I had worsening groin and hip pain. My
My name is Dennis Roth. I am 66 years old and was an active mountain biker and skier; did black diamond runs and jumps! However, severe arthritis (especially the left hip) eventually prevented me from riding my bike. When I saw the pre-surgical videos made at the Gait Lab at Mt. Sinai in Baltimore, I was stunned by how poorly I walked and what an obviously painful effort walking was for me. It was hard

As I noticed today’s date, I realized that 6 years ago, I was in Baltimore getting my hip re-surfaced by Dr. Mont. Since I rarely even think about it anymore, other when someone mentions it to me, I kind of lost track. I guess it works. For those of you on this site looking for relief from your hip problems, as I was in 2001, I certainly recommend re-surfacing. Back then I
Lefty – 73 years young
I’m doing well nine days after my left hip was resurfaced by Dr. Mont at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. The first three days after surgery were somewhat discouraging, but on the fourth day I started using crutches, which I find to be MUCH preferable to a walker. I’m 73, had no one to accompany me to Baltimore from upstate New York, and live alone, so I decided to spend some
From “The Other Side” – Dr. Mont
Had my resurfacing done by Dr. Mont at Sinai in Baltimore on Feb. 13, and am progressing slowly. The arthritis pain is gone, as is the lower back pain I used to wake up with on the side of my (old) bum hip. I think the staff and facilities at Sinai were top-notch (with a few relatively minor exceptions). Also, I have read others describe Dr. Mont
February 14, 2018 Update
I had my right hip done in 2005 at 53 years old by Dr. Mont using a Wright C+ so I’m at the 12 1/2 year mark. No problems, no concerns, no looking back. Interesting reading some of the responses – I had a very easy time of it post op – never took any of the pain meds after leaving the hospital on the 2nd day post op, with the … Read the rest
Katie’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Mont 2009
January 21, 2009
I had 2 arthroscopic surgeries to repair a labral tear and then open surgery for FAI. The recovery was a beast but I sent my films to Dr Gross and he didn’t see any deterioration of the joint, so I thought it was my best course since it preserved all of my bone. That was 2.5 years ago.
In January of this year, I stood … Read the rest
Dave Phelps Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Mont 2011
I had my right hip resurface February 23, 2011 by Dr. Mont in Baltimore, MD. I was 39 yrs. old at the time and dysplasia was the diagnosis. It has been a total success, I am doing things again I truly never thought possible. About 6 months post op, I started doing CrossFit workouts. This has been a complete game changer for me. When I started CrossFit … Read the rest
Nevin’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Mont 2013
August 14, 2013
I am two days post left hip resurfacing with Dr. Mont in Baltimore.
I was not in SERIOUS PAIN unless I actually did something. If I sat around like a couch potato, I would get occasional twinges and aches, but no real pain unless I walked a few blocks or spent too much time in the aisles at the supermarket.
A "traditional" hip guy who … Read the rest
Scott’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Mont 2012
November 5, 2012
I am headed in for my right hip resurfacing this Wednesday (11/7) with Dr. Mont in Baltimore, MD. As I mentioned to Pat a few weeks back in an email, this website has been a great source of information and has really made me more comfortable with my upcoming surgery. I am headed down to Maryland from the Philadelphia area. When I saw the experience … Read the rest
